The success of random moment sampling requires that participants detail their activity in a timely and accurate manner. The RMS service features encourage accurate participant input and facilitates audit and verification checks while providing a complete history of every transaction.

Random moment data collected may be subject to audit. Problems discovered during an audit can result in reduced cost recovery, denial of claims and monetary penalties if fraud is detected.

When the project is configured, the administrator enters the desired percentage of the samples to audited and validated.

Audited Samples

The Audit feature allows you to prompt the participant during data entry for additional information pertaining to that random moment. This data will support the response should an audit be performed.

The RMS service’s automated scheduler randomly selects the number of random moment samples required to meet the specified levels. A participant making an entry does not know whether that entry is going to be audited, validated or both.

If a random moment is flagged for audit, after the participant records their activity details the service will prompt for the additional information regarding that moment. This insures the participant’s activity can be traced to a particular case number, service, etc.

Validated Samples

A Random Moment flagged for validation requires that the participant’s supervisor review the entry details and certify that, in their opinion, the input is accurate. The RMS service automatically sends the supervisor an email with the link to review the entry.

If the supervisor’s view of the activity differs from that of the participant, the details of the difference can be recorded. The validation process itself is managed completely by the RMS service.

If the supervisor agrees with the participant’s entry it is flagged as validated. If the supervisor’s view of the activity differs from that of the participant the supervisor can consult with the participant and then enter the changes. A full date and time stamped audit trail of all entries are maintained by the RMS service.
